COUNTY SURVEYOR DUTIES

By State Statute, the Madison County Surveyor:

  • Supervises the construction, reconstruction and maintenance of regulated drains.
  • Maintains a drainage report depicting regulated drains in need of maintenance, in need of reconstruction, or in need of vacation.
  • Investigates alleged obstructions of drains and natural watercourses.
  • Perpetuates the locations of survey section corners.
  • Maintains the Plat Book Maintenance Department.

 

The Madison County Surveyor serves in the following capacities:

  • Serves on the Madison County Planning Commission
  • Serves on the Madison County Technical Review Committee
  • Serves on the Madison County Plat Review Committee
  • Serves on the Madison County Council of Governments Technical Committee
  • Serves on the Madison County Council of Governments Policy Committee
  • Serves on the Madison County Council of Governments Finance Committee
  • Serves on the Madison County Data Board
  • Serves on the Madison County Drainage Board as a non-voting member (Technical Advisor)
